What is it like to teach at Cambridge Public Schools?
Cambridge is a vibrant, diverse, well-resourced urban community that is committed to equity and educational opportunity for all of our students. With diverse leadership at all levels, from the Superintendent’s Cabinet to our individual school leaders, we seek to empower our students regardless of background. Moreover, we are a school district of choice that acknowledges the unique learning and social emotional needs of all students. Evidence of this can be found in our vibrant Visual and Performing Arts department, multiple dual language immersion settings, and in being home to one of only seven public Montessori schools in the state.
In addition to recruitment, CPS is committed to ensuring that staff members from historically marginalized communities feel welcomed and included once they choose to join our district. In May 2018, CPS facilitated the development of Employee Resource Groups, sometimes known as “affinity groups.” These groups are led by educators around areas of shared identity such as race, ethnicity, disability, and sexual orientation. Each of these groups is educator-led and supported by central administration, allowing for each community to grow, develop, and determine their own path.
