Shore Educational Collaborative was established in 1975 as one of 24 educational collaboratives in Massachusetts, providing public special education to students with disabilities. Over 180 students aged 3-22 attend our school in Chelsea, receiving a comprehensive education and related services.

At Shore, we believe that every person can grow, learn, and achieve goals that are meaningful to them. Our work is guided by our core values – educate, enrich, inspire – and we operate with respect, integrity, accountability, and compassion.

We center our students, striving to be exceptional in our programs while honoring our community of diverse backgrounds, experiences, beliefs, and perspectives.

Our class sizes are intentionally small – usually no more than ten students – with a dedicated paraprofessional in each room. We believe in collaboration and a strong team, with an 88% retention rate of professional staff. We’re excited for you to join us.

Shore Educational Collaborative has over 250 staff members including teachers, specialists, therapists and counselors. Our school programs include preschool through age 22 and our adult programs are 22+. We support children and adults with various disabilities, strengths, and academic goals. At Shore, our staff can grow, learn, achieve goals, and be part of a team that values integrity and meaningful work.

What is it like to teach at Shore Educational Collaborative?

We have a lot of staff who live locally who expressed the enjoyment of the convenient commute to work. Our school staff have flexible schedules, early releases, two professional development days per month, and an extensive benefits package.

What kind of support does Shore Educational Collaborative offer new teachers?

At Shore, we take pride in our collaborative work culture. Our seasoned teachers are always eager to guide and mentor new teachers, while our school directors work cohesively to provide support to all staff, regardless of the program they oversee. As a team, we deeply care about the organization’s mission and vision, and we strive to uphold these values every day.

How does Shore Educational Collaborative demonstrate that it is commited to teacher diversity?

We plan to demonstrate Shore’s commitment to diversity for all staff by partnering with organizations that promote diversity and equity as well as by encouraging and supporting initiatives led by our current staff.

Any tips for teachers moving to Shore Educational Collaborative?

Our staff is knowledgeable and compassionate. All of our professional staff are licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary and/or their professional accreditation associations. The majority of our school staff, in all positions, have been employed at Shore for five years or longer. Nearly a third have Shore careers over 10 and up to 31 years (and counting).
