What is it like to teach at Wilmington Public Schools?

The Town of Wilmington is located 15 miles north of Boston with close proximity to I-93, I-95, and I-495 along with direct access in town to the MBTA commuter rail. Due to the proximity to the city, there is a high level of residents employed in a variety of technical, professional and health-care related fields.
Wilmington is a stable, family-orientated community with a high percentage of longtime residents including many who are staff. As a result, a sense of history and tradition are valued and the town has been successful in attracting younger families who value the community’s close-knit atmosphere, the strong school system, and the array of cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities.
Wilmington has a strong sense of community and a long tradition of civic commitment and volunteerism. Wilmington is a community who is dedicated to ensuring the success of each child and is dedicated to embodying acceptance, equity, integrity and teamwork.

What kind of support does Wilmington Public Schools offer new teachers?

The Wilmington Public Schools believes that a strong induction and mentoring program promotes the retention of high-quality teachers and consistency among educators. We believe that induction & mentoring programs increase job satisfaction, provide opportunities for teacher leadership, and have a positive effect on student achievement and engagement.
The Wilmington Public Schools are committed to providing ongoing practical support and guidance to new educators. The primary goals of Wilmington’s New Staff Induction Program are (1) to increase student achievement by improving educator effectiveness and daily instruction and (2) to retain capable new educators by increasing their satisfaction with their experience in Wilmington. New educators will have the support of mentors, colleagues, and administrators as they transition to Wilmington and the teaching profession. A two day orientation is provided for all new staff.
